JACKIE'S BACK!!! Ever wanted to know about Encaustic Art? Is there such a thing as instant art? Encaustic paint is a wax and pigment mixture applied to a shiny surfaced card with a hot tool and produces most beautiful colours and forms. Jackie will show you how to use small irons to apply wax to art card. Artistic skill is not necessary - you will surprise yourself as you produce pictures that are stunning to look at. What you produce can be framed or used as unusual greetings cards etc. This is a very popular class, so please book early! Please bring an apron!

Pierette is a beautiful 20" cloth doll with plenty of techniques, lovely costume & a soft sculpted face. Her unique body construction will add to the fun & allow her to hang on a wall if you so desire. You will learn all the cloth doll basics, so if you have made cloth dolls before you will have a chance to build on your existing skills & if you have not made a cloth doll you will leave with full knowledge to create many more dolls on your own. She has a lovely soft sculpted face created using a soft knit fabric & because it requires some intensive fun, we will devote most of one day on it, to give you the time you need to comprehend the technique as you do it in class. You will leave with a face you are happy with & have a tool chest of knowledge to create several more! Her lovely costume is full of fun twists & turns & layers & we will even be using a pleating machine in class to create her ruffles.... Not to mention her stunning little hat & darling shoes that we will make to complete her outfit. Pierette will have some home work to save time in class.

Snowflake Sprite & Spider Sprite Cloth Doll Making Workshop - Saturday 6th & Sunday 7th November - 10am to 4pm with Colleen Babcock - £100 for a 2 day course - NEARLY FULL!!!
This little sprite is a two-in-one pattern. From the same pattern create either a Snowflake Sprite or a Spider Sprite, using different materials and only a few varying pattern pieces to transform the doll from a winter wonder to a spooky spider. The sprite is a 20” (50.8cm) cloth doll designed to be hung on a wall as a decoration – perfect for Christmas or Halloween. The doll’s legs, body, arms and embellishments are relatively simple, leaving you more time to spend on her expressive face and hands. This class gives detailed instruction in drawing, sculpting and colouring the face, as well as revealing the secrets of sewing, turning and posing tiny fingers and an opposable thumb for hands with maximum expression. While we will be focussing on hands and faces, the rest of the doll will not be left out. Transform the doll’s body with the snowflake at her back or add eight creepy legs using a very simple wire armature and some straight forward techniques that give the doll maximum impact and transform her from a simple sprite to a fantastic holiday decoration or gift. In order to participate in this class you are expected to have basic sewing skills and be able to use a sewing machine. No previous experience in making cloth dolls is necessary. You may not be able to finish the entire doll during the course of the class, however, you will be given a complete set of instructions and every element of the doll’s construction will be demonstrated.
